Peace Through Love: Why True Christian Peace Begins With the Love of Jesus Christ

I created this blog to help others find peace through Jesus Christ — to help you understand that there is a difference between the peace this world offers and the peace Jesus gives. The world’s peace is temporary, emotional, and fragile. But the peace Jesus offers is permanent, spiritual, and rooted in His love.

When the Lord forgave me for the years I spent in darkness — years filled with guilt, shame, and self‑blame after losing my dad — that forgiveness became the rebirth of my spirit. It was the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ Himself, who turned my life around.

Peace instantly came upon me. Truth was given to me. God filled me with hope, love, and peace.

When the World Tries to Steal Peace

What I didn’t understand at the time was that the evil in this world will do everything it can to disturb that peace. Life itself becomes a distraction that tries to divide us from Jesus, from His eternal peace, and from His love.

I remember losing that peace early in my walk with the Holy Spirit. I tried to regain it through human effort — hours of meditation, reading, and searching for peace the “human way.” It became a roller coaster of ups and downs.

Even though God made it clear that the peace given to me came from Jesus, I still believed I could maintain it on my own.

The Deeper Truth God Showed Me

It wasn’t until the last couple of years that God showed me something deeper:

Peace is more than faith in Christ. Peace is more than hope in Christ. True peace comes from love.

Not human love — not emotional love, not the kind of love that rises and falls with feelings.

But the love Paul describes in 1 Corinthians 13:

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self‑seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

God has shown me that love is about serving others. These acts of love become acts of peace — for others and for myself.

When rooted in Christ, the way we express love brings a long‑term, permanent peace that only God can offer.

This love is how Jesus approached everyone. It’s how Jesus approaches you and me. This love dissolves ego and embraces the Holy Spirit.

Jesus’ Commandment + Paul’s Teaching + The Spirit’s Work

Jesus said:

“Love one another; as I have loved you.” John 13:34

And what God showed me is this:

When you take God’s definition of love in 1 Corinthians 13, combine it with Jesus’ greatest commandment, and place it alongside the Beatitudes and the Sermon on the Mount, you begin to see how God breathes peace, love, and mercy into your life.

For me, love goes far beyond simply saying “I love you.” It means showing love the way God shows love to us — through patience, kindness, humility, forgiveness, and mercy.

No matter my circumstances, no matter the difficulties I face, when I embrace the Holy Spirit within me and love the way God wants me to love, living this way of love through the Spirit is where I find peace and joy.

This is exactly what Paul means when he says:

“Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 14:1

Paul is teaching the same thing Jesus taught:

Love is the way. Love is the path. Love is the evidence of the Spirit. Love is how Christ grows in you.

Let Love Transform Your Life

Wherever you are in your journey with Christ, reflect on 1 Corinthians 13. Let it reach beyond your heart, beyond your mind, and into your entire being.

Let these words speak to you through the Holy Spirit. Practice them in your life. Love beyond what the world teaches — embrace God’s love, even toward those you consider enemies.

Paul gives two profound truths about love in 1 Corinthians 13:

  1. Do all things with love — it is how you gain more of Christ in your life.
  2. Hope, faith, and love — you cannot have hope or faith without love, for love always wins.

To simplify, John 3:30 says:

“He must increase, but I must decrease.”

God is showing me that as I learn to love through the Spirit, Christ increases in my life and ego decreases.

This is how Jesus stays centered in me. This is how the Holy Spirit connects me to Christ. This is how Jesus helps me daily. This is how I walk with Him.

The Path to Peace Is the Path of Love

In my journey toward peace, when I relied on myself, I failed often.

But with Christ — and with the love He defines — I not only maintain peace, but Jesus grows inside me.

To do all things with Christ means to do all things with love.

Since Jesus is Love, and the Prince of Peace, the Holy Spirit is showing me the path to peace — and this peace is available to you.

Reflection: Where is God inviting you to replace human love with His love — the kind of love that brings lasting peace?

Prayer: “Lord Jesus, teach me to love the way You love. Let Your Spirit shape my heart with patience, kindness, humility, and mercy, so Your peace may grow in me. Amen.”
